Elevator Speech with Christie
UDL is effective because it looks at each student as an individual and takes into account their needs, strengths, and weaknesses. It differentiates and modifies the instruction in order to successfully address each student to reach their highest potential.

Hi Governor.

I am happy I bumped into you… you are just the man I wanted to talk too.

I am sure you are proud of the fact that NJ is made up of such a diverse group of citizens.

In order for our state to prosper we need to ensure that every citizen has his or her education needs met in our schools.

UDL is just the solution to make that happen. UDL provides our students of all ages, ability levels, learning styles, cultures and backgrounds with fair and equal access to the curriculum by providing multiple ways of representing content, multiple ways of expression and multiple ways of engagement.

UDL allows educators to tailor instruction for every child.

Looking forward to work with you to transform education here in NJ.

It is important to understand that student diversity is growing, and that the educational landscape is changing. Student needs are changing as the world becomes faster paced and more interconnected. In order to optimally reach all of those students, teachers have to use the best means possible. By designing a classroom in a more holistic, universal way, teachers can give students access to the curriculum and optimize achievement and long term success.

Before you give your inauguration address in 2016, imagine seeing a Latino student with special needs from an Abbott district in New Jersey giving the commencement address at Harvard.
I can get you there. No gimmicks. UDL. Give me 5 minutes of your time.

The needs and ways students are learning and processing information is constantly changing. As educators we need to work to better accommodate these needs. Fortunately we are in an age of evolving technology where we have a variety of valuable resources available to enable us to reach each student to the best of our abilities. We can differentiate our instruction to ensure that we are meeting the needs of every learner.

Greetings Mr. Christie

I would like to take the opportunity to quickly address a new framework for education called Universal Design for Learning. It meets the needs of all 21st century learners by tailoring, diversifying, and differentiating the curriculum for all learners. Our school and our community is on board and we would like the support from the state as well. Our schools need more access to computers, Ipads, and professional development. UDL will give access to optimal learning! Helen, Karen Andrea
